International moving
The importance of organizing household items

One of the most important things to do before moving to another country is how to organize the household items all over the house. Years of life can easily accumulate some items that we no longer use and put aside! So sort out, discard, transfer, sell. From packaging to packaging, these steps are indispensable!

Selling those surplus items can relieve the burden and also bring in extra funds. After all, the fewer things you transport, the cheaper the international moving price will be.

For 30 years, we have been committed to helping people complete their relocations around the world. From the day you receive a free quote until we deliver your home items to your new home, you will always be supported by us.

1. Sort out the sorting steps and plans:

Moving to the sea You and your family will experience brand-new life changes. This is also an opportunity to start anew and simplify your possessions. Before starting to sort out the items, it is necessary to categorize the items to be sorted and make a sorting plan for each category according to the departure time.

2. Give yourself enough time to start as early as possible:

Usually, people tend to underestimate the time needed to organize all household items.

Please be sure to start organizing as soon as possible. Because once you start, you will find that there are many items that require time to consider and decide whether to keep or discard!

Warm reminder: You can consider starting from the smallest room, categorizing, organizing and packaging. After you finish, you will actually find that it's not that complicated!

Item classification: Open all cabinets and drawers, even including various small jars hidden in the attic and basement (tool room), and pile up the items. Check them one by one to decide whether to discard, recycle or sell.

The gains from organizing: A small item might unlock a long-buried memory... Whether it is joy or sadness... One can tell oneself that it's time to let go and a wonderful new life has begun.

Inviting friends and family for help is sure to make the whole process easier and more interesting.

3. Item classification records, as detailed as possible:

From large furniture to various toys of different sizes for children, no one can remember all the items clearly. We can categorize them according to our own habits, register them one by one, and finally decide what to choose (see the table on the right).

The registration list selection has been completed, the packaging numbers have been numbered, and they have been summarized into an important document packing list. The packing list is a detailed list of all items and should be presented to the relevant customs officer.

4. Thorough cleaning:

It's hard to let go, especially of items with emotional value. But do you need ten quilts, three woks and toys that the child no longer wants? . Immigrating abroad is the best opportunity to simplify household items! Some items that haven't been used for a long time are not in use now and won't be used abroad either. Even if they still have potential value, they are still junk. Would you spend money to transport "junk" to your brand-new home abroad?

Life has embarked on a new chapter, and we must resolutely sever, discard and part ways with some of the past items.

5. Electronic products may not be applicable for a long time abroad:

The "decluttering, discarding and letting go" of electronic products might be a bit difficult. Before making a decision, find out whether your electronic device is applicable in your destination country.

Some electronic products may require different voltages or conversion plugs. For instance, the voltage in the European Union and the United Kingdom is 240V, while in Australia it is 200-240V and in the United States it is 110V. Different voltages pose risks to the use of electronic products.

Warm reminder: The electrical appliance plug adapter is not suitable for long-term use as it poses safety hazards.

6. Pay attention to prohibited items:

Before packing the items, please be sure to note that prohibited items should not be placed in the transportation packaging box to avoid delays and fines during the inspection and quarantine by the relevant customs.

Please refer to the prohibited items page. If you are unsure about the items, you can also call our customer service to inquire with the customs of the destination port.

Warm reminder: A new home with a new environment will definitely be different in size and layout from the present. Some large pieces of furniture may no longer be suitable for the new place. Giving them away or reselling them might be the best choice.

Here are several rules for making choices when organizing items

The "Double Hundred" sorting rule

The Double Hundred Rule is a simple and effective way to make choices and trade-offs, which can help you make quick decisions when tidying up your house. The rules are as follows: When tidying up the room, please gather some small items worth around 100 yuan that you usually collect home due to their affordability and impulsive purchases. If you don't use them or seldom do so, please group them together and give yourself 100 minutes to consider. If you find that the item is easy to replace and not frequently used, please consider giving up the transportation. Because they will later occupy your transportation space and the tidy space of your new home.

2.1+1 Organizing Rule

Do you have any items? You won't even remember it if you don't sort it out! One year, two years or even ten years.....

The 1+1 organizing rule will tell you that if you haven't used a certain item (clothing) in the past year and think you won't use it in the coming year either, then it has no value to keep.

Note: The 1+1 rule is merely a guiding principle. We all have some useful and meaningful items that are not frequently used but worth keeping, such as jewelry, photo albums, wedding dresses, family heirlooms, and seasonal clothing. Wait.

3.5/5 sorting rule

If you haven't used an item for over five years, give yourself five minutes to think: Is it really that important to you? If not, container transportation can be abandoned. Perhaps giving, donating or selling is its chance to be reborn again.
